MV Agusta’s first production 125cc roadster, with a single-cylinder overhead valve engine, debuted in 1954 and remained in production for over two decades. Exquisitely finished and very expensive when new, few were sold outside Italy. In 1965, the 125 range received a five speed gearbox and was sold in two versions, the basic GT and the more sporting (and powerful) GTL. From 1969 to the early 1970s, MV Agusta offered the 125 GTL ‘S’, with fantastic café racer styling and air-cooled single motor. The engine had a bore and stroke of 53 x 56mm and an output of 17.4 bhp, enough to propel the MV to a top speed of 120 km/h. The GTL ‘S’ had six-volt electrics and ignition by a flywheel magneto (with automatic spark advance).
Purchased by the current owner in Canberra around three years ago this remarkable little MV is believed to have been in Australia from new and appears to be in original, unmolested condition. Finished in the classic Italian racing red, with great cosmetics (right down to the MV decals), the bike is in great running order as well and comes with an original tool kit.
Sold without registration.
